Tom who?
Katie Holmes was hands-on at her first big post-divorce public event yesterday — a hot-ticket fashion show at the Lincoln Center tents for her spring 2013 line.
Holmes and design partner Jeanne Yang presented 14 looks at their Fashion Week debut and the actress got up close and personal, making last-minute nips and tucks.
With security in tow, she moved from model to model.
“I love the off-the-shoulder spider mum dress because it’s very feminine,” Holmes said about one of her pieces. “Some of the leather pieces are pretty great, too.”
Surprisingly, there were no Hollywood A-listers there to gawk. And no one dared mention Tom Cruise or their controversial split.
“She wanted to keep it small and intimate,” said an insider. “They didn’t invite any celebrities.”
And daughter Suri was at her new school.
“She was in school with all the other kids,” a source said. “Katie’s a really good mom and she’s not going to pull her daughter out of school for a fashion show.”
So what did the fashion elite think?
“I feel like it’s still starting to grow,” said one buyer. “It’s a very new collection. It’s a good start, though, and this was their first presentation.”
Others tweeted their takes, like Glamour executive fashion director Anne Christensen, who gushed, “Great separates at Holmes & Yang! Esp loved the navy motorcycle jacket.”
Holmes, 33, also looked stunning in a black leather jacket, white blouse, black slacks and gold jewels.
Women’s Wear Daily reports she plans to take a major role in promoting the line, which falls under the Bobbi Brown brand. Holmes will star in a new ad campaign next spring and WWD reports she’s believed to be getting paid up to $3 million for the multiyear deal.
